Eurasianet.org
Eurasianet an information and news portal dedicated to the Middle East and Soernuth-East Europe (in particular the countries of the former USSR). Its clients are Open Society Foundations (OSF), in the past Open Society Institute under the patronage of the famous business tycoon and politician George Soros. In the course of our cooperation with the Open Society Foundations, in the context Eurasianet project, Right Applications team created 3 websites. Short descriptions of these projects are given below: Eurasianet – big information and news portal for the countries of Eurasia; Eurasianet “Wine” – local mini-website in the eurasianet.org domain. Is the small static website devoted to the question “Can Ex-Soviet Winemakers Conquer the EU?”; Eurasianet “USSR” – local mini-website devoted to the questions related to the split of the Soviet Union.
What We Did
We needed to create a volume resource, but at the same time he had to be fast to use and include the possibility of changes in the Back-End, such as the connection of additional modules, integration with third-party services and API. Therefore, it was decided to develop a PHP website running on Dupal CMS, this combination is the best solution to such problems. But it was necessary to create a solution that would control several with a single CMS. Right Applications developers have solved this problem by connection of the Multi-site function and further transition to Acquia Platform. It has given the chance to the websites to have own parameters of a configuration, own content and settings, at the same time to have the general management and high data security. In addition, we have created Drupal and MailChimp service integration for mailings and collection database of subscribers on the website.
